Obama’s Magnificent Stealth Negotiation With Putin

‘Roller coaster’ ride has been the handiwork of a foreign policy team that, just months into its term, has presided over shifts, apparent mistakes and surprises. http://www.obamastudentloanforgiveness.net Comments 82 President Obama walks along the West Wing Colonnade hours before Tuesdays national address on Syria. He went abroad and tried to rally international partners to join his cause, but returned empty-handed. He launched one of the biggest public relations and lobbying campaigns of his presidency, then aborted the mission.

Obama’s tough task: Getting Americans to care about chemical weapons use in Syria

In his remarks to the nation about Syria last night, our President specifically noted: over the last few days weve seen some encouraging signs in part because of the credible threat of U.S. military action as well as constructive talks that I had with President Putin. The Russian government has indicated a willingness to join with the international community in pushing Assad to give up his chemical weapons. The Assad regime has now admitted that it has these weapons and even said theyd join the chemical weapons convention, which prohibits their use. Last night Obama also said that he will continue his discussions with Putin and that tomorrow Kerry will speak with his Russian counterpart. With Russia on board, a resolution will be presented to the U.N.

Coal Industry Cries Foul Over Obama Emission Rules

Alisha Johnson, a spokeswoman for the EPA, declined to comment. Low-cost natural gas is leading utilities to build new plants using that fuel and shutter coal-fired plants. The effect of the new standard would lock out coal over the long term, said Scott Segal , a lobbyist for utilities. Once you set something in stone, you discourage investment in that sector, and you take a flexible market and ossify it, Segal, a lawyer at Bracewell & Giuliani LLP in Washington, said in an interview. The market price of natural gas can change but regulations dont, he said. Global Warming Carbon-dioxide emissions since the Industrial Revolution have led to a warming of the Earths temperature in the past 50 years, worsening forest fires, drought and coastal flooding, according to the U.S.

I ask you to reconcile your belief in freedom and dignity for all people with those images of children writhing in pain and going still on a cold hospital floor. Obamas raw language was in many ways similar to the words he used in the wake of a mass shooting in Newtown, Conn., last winter, and was aimed at stirring a nations collective conscience to action in a faraway place. So far, however, there is scant evidence that the American public or Congress has been swayed by the graphic videos , which were recorded in the neighborhoods near Damascus where the Aug. 21 attacks were allegedly carried out. The administration has struggled to make the case that the alleged use of chemical weapons by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on his own people has constituted such a horrifying escalation of the countrys civil war that a U.S military intervention is required. In a Washington Post/ABC News poll last week, 64 percent opposed U.S.
